The findings draw attention to new and important aspects of the study and note significant limitations. The volume of the abstract has to be within 250-300 words and should not contain acronyms and abbreviations, except for units of measurement.

Abstracts of reviews should include the information on the method of search against the databases Scopus, Web of Science, MedLine, The Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Global Health, CyberLeninka, РИНЦ and others.

The structure of the full text of a manuscript describing results of the original study should comply with the commonly used template containing sections as follows: introduction (background), goals and objectives, materials and methods, results (discussion), conclusion, findings.

Introduction. The section reveals the relevance of the study with the use of literature data, and covers the issue with reference to the most significant publications. The aim of study is formulated at the end of background.

Aim of Study. It reflects the need to address the current issues arising from the content of the introduction.

Objectives. Consistent presentation of stages of clinical, laboratory and experimental research needed to accomplish the aim.

Materials and Methods. The section deals with information about patients enrolled in the study (quantitative and qualitative characteristics of patients/surveyed) or experimental animals/devices, the design of the study, clinical, laboratory, instrumental, experimental and other methodologies, including statistical methods of data processing. When mentioning the equipment and drugs, the company and country of origin are indicated in brackets. International nonproprietary names (INN) of drugs and medicines may be given in the Journal. Commercial (proprietary) names of drugs manufactured by different companies are listed in "Materials and Methods", including the manufacturer and international nonproprietary (generic) name.

Results is the main part of the manuscript. Results should be presented in a logical sequence, they may also be presented as tables and illustrations. The genus is shortened to one letter (E. coli, S. aureus, S. lividans) when repeatedly mentioned.

Genetic elements should be given as three-letter designation of Latin alphabet in lowercase italics (tet), and products encoded by corresponding genetic elements are denoted by direct capital letters (TET).

Discussion includes interpretation of results and its significance with reference to previously published own works and papers of other authors. The content should be clear and concise. Be sure to highlight new and important aspects of the research results and compare it with results of other researchers, if possible. Do not repeat information already provided in "Background", and detailed data from the “Results” section. The scope of the research competence and its practical significance should be described. The discussion may include ideas and reasonable recommendations.

Conclusion (Findings). The section sums up the research and highlights issues for the further study basing on the analyzed data. Own data collected during the study is consistently presented reflecting the results.

Conflict of interests. Authors must disclose potential and apparent conflicts of interests related to the manuscript. Any situation may be regarded as a conflict of interests (financial relationships, service or work in institutions with financial or political interest in the published materials, duties, etc.) which may affect the author's manuscript and lead to hiding, distortion of data, changes in data interpretation. The presence of a conflict of interests in one or more authors is not a reason for refusal in publishing. However, if the editors reveal concealing potential and apparent conflicts of interests by authors, they may refuse to review and publish the manuscript. It is convenient to declare a conflict of interest in a special electronic form developed by ICMJE www.icmje.org/conflict-of-interest/.

Sponsorship. It is necessary to specify the source of financing for both research and publishing process (funds, commercial or government organization, private person etc.). The amount of financing does not need to be specified.

In the bibliography (article list of references), references to literature sources must be listed in citation order (and not alphabetically), each source from a new line under its own serial number. In the text of the article, references to sources are given in square brackets in Arabic numerals.

Each scientific fact is accompanied by proper reference to its source. When several scientific facts are mentioned in sole sentence, proper reference should accompany each of these facts (not at the end of the sentence). Multiple references are to be presented chronologically, e.g. [2-6]

In the bibliographic description of each source, it is unacceptable to shorten the title of the article. The name of the English-language journals should be given in accordance with the catalog directory of the PubMed database. If the journal is not indexed in PubMed, its full name must be indicated. The names of national magazines should not be reduced.

References to abstracts and other materials published in information packages of various conferences, congresses etc. are permissible for inclusion in cited literature only when they are accessible and found by Internet search engines, provided that URL and retrieval date are indicated.
  • References to papers published many years ago (except when they are rare and highly informative).

The bibliography of both Russian and foreign sources should be based on the Vancouver style in the AMA version (AMA style, http://www.amamanualofstyle.com).

If the number of authors does not exceed six, all the authors are indicated in the bibliographic description. In case of a larger number, the first six authors should be indicated, and “et al.” should be added.

Completing the online form

For successful indexing of articles in national and international databases, when submitting a manuscript to the editors via the online form you must separately enter all its metadata in detail. Some metadata are entered separately in Russian and English languages: the name of institution where authors are employed, detailed affiliation, title, abstract, keywords, name of sponsoring organizations.

Within 7 days after sending the article, an email will be sent to the e-mail address indicated by the authors when the manuscript is submitted (the absence of the letter is evidence that the manuscript has not been received). The author may contact the editorial board (editor or reviewers) anytime, as well as track the stage of processing the manuscript via personal account on the Journal’s website.

The editors have the right to make literary and scientific edits and change the design of illustrative material without distorting the meaning of the information provided, as well as to choose the section of the Journal for articles’ publication.

All accepted manuscripts are reviewed. The article is sent to reviewers without indicating the names of the authors and the name of the institution(s) where it was prepared. Comments requiring corrections to the text of the article are sent to the author by the editors.

Fees for the publication of manuscripts, as well as compensations are not provided.

Articles that do not meet these requirements are not accepted. The date of receipt of the manuscript is considered the day the editorial office receives the final version.

The procedure for reviewing decisions of the editor/ reviewer. If the author does not agree with the opinion of the reviewer and / or editor or with individual comments, he can challenge the decision. For this, the author has to:

- correct the manuscript of the article according to the justified comments of reviewers and editors;

- clearly state the position on the issue under consideration.

Editors facilitate re-submission of manuscripts that could potentially be accepted, but were rejected due to the need for significant changes or the collection of additional data, and are ready to explain in detail what should to be corrected in the manuscript in order to be accepted for publication.

Error correction. If errors are found in the text of the article that affect its perception but do not distort the stated research results, they can be corrected by replacing the pdf-file of the article and indicating an error in the article file itself and on the article page on the journal website.

Retraction of articles. In accordance with the rules of the Council on the Scientific Publications Ethics (Russian Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers), the grounds for retraction of an article are as follows:

– detection of plagiarism in an article;

– detection of fraud in the work;

– detection of serious errors in the work that cast doubt on its scientific value;

– incorrect composition of the authors;

– duplication of articles in several publications;

– republishing an article without the consent of the author;

– concealment of conflicts of interest and other violations of publication ethics;

– failure to pass the article review procedure.

After a decision has been made to retract an article, the editors inform its authors about their decision, indicating the reason for the retraction and its date. The article remains on the Journal’s website as part of the corresponding issue, but receives the “Retracted” note with the retraction date (the mark is put on top of the article’s text and in the table of contents of the issue), and a retraction message is posted in the news section of the site. The editor-in-chief of the Journal also submits information on the retraction of the article to all network libraries and databases where the Journal is indexed.
